I imagine I wrote a story with her...
It is not a distant thought, when I was taking a shower just now, I am seriously considering the idea of opening a story but finish with another person.
My character can be a bit offbeat, Holden-like. Her character can be much more morally conscious.
We can sit at a table at the park or on a carpet in someone’s living room and weave the storyline together.
The basic idea is that I write for 10 minutes and so does she. And then we read aloud to each other to find common threads. We can list out the events on a whiteboard and see how these characters are going to encounter each other.
And then we take another 10 minutes to continue on our agreement (or not).
So we write in the way that we are both anticipating each other’s writing but not so sure where will they lead us to.
Pretty exciting haerh.
Knowing that she would expect a social story right at the beginning, I would assign more weight to ethical decisions in my character development. And for her, she knows that my character has a cynical view of serious things, probably she would put some discussion on absurdity inside her texts.
So we can develop these texts together. And somehow find our characters meet in the middle ground.
I personally believe it is quite an interesting way of developing stories.
And what’s even more interesting is that we write in different languages, for example, me in English, she in Chinese or vice versa. And when we weave these texts together by cutting and pasting, it could create a language maze.
And I guess it is a pretty interesting way to get to know a person right? ask her to write a story with you.
Don’t know if she will agree to do it though.
