Set aside controversies in politics, being Chinese is quite cool, after all, we are hard-working people.
Sarcarsticism alert
Recently I find out about this platform stack.
It claims to be the best place for independent journalism to flourish, kinda like a medium but let writers control more on their contents. Thus here I come, to dock my mindpower at a safe harbor.
If you want to learn China from a local perspective, this is the place that suits you. Born in China, commit my undergraduate study at HK about China, stay in HK to observe China, and present them to the world sounds like a very consistent road map towards complete unemployment.
From time to time I may also present some in-depth analysis, it may be pseudo-academic or plainly subjective. Topics can cover a great area, in my opinion on marriage practices in China to an anthology on a series of dazzling modern shopping malls in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and their histories (if anyone cares); from comments on current policies of China’s government to the snapshots of common middle-class lifestyles(of course, comment on their television consumption styles). From elitism views gathered from respectable top Chinses universities, scholars to the down-to-earth practicalities offered by my mum, you name it.
If you just wanna hang around and get some flavor of Chinese, from time to time I will also present some work about literature, art, music, and interesting cultural phenomena as I got some academic training in my uni years that may be put to good use here.
For those that wish to challenge themselves with Chinese, some articles will be published in both English and Chinese, line by line, well, I am not a language teacher, but who knows, I learn English from movie subtitles. Chinese is not terribly hard to learn, besides, Chinese poems have a great aesthetic appearance and genuinely organized rhetoric structures. In this part, I may cover some trendy books in Chinese societies, the thoughts of heated Hollywood films in China, and great tips for traveling.
For those who wish to travel to China, as a subscriber, I offer every consultative service (considering it as a 24/7 AMA section on Reddit). From route suggestions to translations (I am not a tour guide but as a native Chinese, finding information is not very hard for me) but as most Chinese contents on google or outside the (“GreatWall”) are mostly published by non-Chinese or publishing house that does not bother to tape into the rich (very rich) content of Chinse internet contents (I mean Baidu and so many more), you may miss a great deal if simply just rely on the Lonely Planet or Daily mail recommendations.
In case if the major readership base is Chinese, I will consider adopting bi-lingual writings in both Chinese and English. Anyway, we will see.
